A new chapter

This is both a continuation and a new beginning. I have been working with photographer Eric Guth for three years, but I’ll be collaborating with filmmaker Matt Mastrantuono for the first time. We have tested our methods in six Arctic nations, but we have never set foot on the islands of French Polynesia.

When it comes to this geography, we are outsiders in every sense.

This chapter promises new challenges, new joys, and most importantly new understanding. Many people, myself included, first learned about the world from globes like this. They can be useful tools, but they offer only one version of the world. They are the expression of a particular way of knowing the planet. We will challenge ourselves by learning other ways.
